The packaging does say it controls Fungus Gnats but the bits are designed for standing water to kill "Mosquito Larvae". They both contian the same active ingrediant but it's the inert ingrediants that make the distinction on how they are applied.

Gnatrol is designed to dislolve into water quickly and kill Fungus Gnat larvae "in soil".  Mosquito Bits will dislover slowly over a few weeks to kill Mosquito Larvae "in water".

Fungus Gnat larvae does not live in water like Mosquito Larve. Fungus Gnat Larvae thrive in a moist medium (Soil, Coco, Hydroponic mediums etc.)

Don't use Mosquito Bits for a Fungus Gnat problem and don't use Gnatrol for a Mosquito problem. Mosquito Bits dislove slowly and are much more effective on Mosquito Larvae in standing water.

Gnatrol is 37% B.T.I. and Mosquito Bits are 3% B.T.I.

Bits are still more effective on Mosquitos in standing water despite the low percentage of B.T.I. due to their slow release over time.

Summit Mosquito Bits are a fast acting environmentally friendly biological insecticide that will remove mosquito larvae from standing water. Decreases larvae populations within 24 hours without harming aquatic life or fish and will reside in the water surface for up to 14 days.

15,95$Preis
  • Summit Mosquito Bits, manufactured by Summit Chemical, is a granular biopesticide that can easily spread across the surface of various types of standing water to treat larvae of mosquitos and fungus gnats.

As an environmental friendly mosquito control product, it will safely treat these irritating pests once they ingest the granules without harming desired aquatic life. Conveniently, this product may also be applied to soil surfaces to quickly remove fungus gnat larvae in the same time frame as mosquito larvae control.

Summit Mosquito Bits is a organic bacterium insecticide that can provide safety by eliminating the larvae of mosquitoes that may transmit zika, West Nile Virus, and other mosquito-borne diseases.

    Tools Needed

Summit Mosquito Bits may be applied with a teaspoon, tablespoon, hand spreader, or directly from the container itself since it contains a spice shaker top.

Teaspoons and tablespoons cannot be reused for eating purposes or other means.

    How to Use

    • Step 1: Determine how much Summit Mosquito Bits to use by calculating the square footage of the water surface or soil to be treated. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet and multiply (length X width = square footage). For small areas of standing water, apply 1 teaspoon of Summit Mosquito Bits per 25 sq. ft. of water or 1 tablespoon of product per 75 sq. ft. of water. For larger areas of standing water, use 4 oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. of clean water and for polluted or greater organic content in water apply at 8 oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. of water surface. Mix 4 tablespoons of product per 1 gallon of water for fungus gnat larvae control in soil or growing media surface.
    • Step 2: Open the Summit Mosquito Bits container with a gloved hand and load the appropriate amount of product into your hand spreader, tablespoon, or teaspoon. Stand directly above the area to be treated or near the water edge to let the water push the product further into the center of large water sites.
    • Step 3: For soil applications, you will need to load the appropriate amount of Summit Mosquito Bits into a nylon stocking and let it soak for 30 minutes. Skim off the floating granules once this time has passed. Stir or shake the water then apply treated water directly to soil or growing media surface.
    • Step 4: Repeat weekly for three weeks for fungus gnats. Apply every 7 days at the highest concentration for abundant mosquito larvae's and when the water has settled. Reapply every 14 days at the lowest concentration when there is low mosquito larvae's and little organic content in the water.

    Where to Use

Summit Mosquito Bits may be applied to standing water around homes and residential properties such as water gardens, pools, funeral urns, old automobile tires, flower pots, saucers, roof gutters, unused cisterns, unused swimming pools, bird baths, tree holes, animal watering troughs, ditches, rain barrels, other water storage containers, bromeliads, pitcher plants that holds water, woodland pools, any stagnant water where mosquito larvae occur. Soil in growing media, house, garden, landscaped plants, and home mushroom beds.

    When to Use

Summit Mosquito Bits works best when applied prior to larvae laying season or periods of heavy rainfall, typically this will be from March to August (early spring to summer).

    Safety Information

Summit Mosquito Bits is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.
